Medicare Provider Numbers and Practice Locations
Medicare provider numbers are location-specific. Services Australia states that a health professional needs more than one Medicare provider number when delivering health services at different locations, and the provider number for the practice location where the service was provided should be used.
Eligible practitioners can apply for additional provider numbers through HPOS using PRODA. A new provider number must be issued for the relevant location before it can be used to claim Medicare benefits.
