DEVZ Solutions uses its own secure, Medicare- and ECLIPSE-compliant billing software to process Medicare and private health insurance claims. You securely send us your inpatient lists and the relevant patient, service and billing details using the transfer method agreed during onboarding.
We do not remotely log in to, or perform billing within, your practice's billing or patient-management software. Medicare and health fund payments go directly to your nominated bank account. DEVZ does not receive, hold or pool your medical income.
Billing built around hospital rounds
Oncologists may see admitted patients across several hospitals while their administrative billing is managed centrally. DEVZ Solutions can establish an agreed workflow in which the doctor or authorised practice team securely supplies the day's patient and service information after inpatient rounds, allowing the billing process to continue without requiring the specialist to perform the claiming administration personally.
An end-of-day patient list is not treated as automatic authority to select an MBS item. The service actually provided, current MBS requirements, referral status and required patient, provider, hospital and insurer information must support the claim.

ECLIPSE inpatient medical claims
Services Australia describes ECLIPSE as a system for in-patient medical claims and Simplified Billing. It connects relevant health professionals, hospitals, billing agents, Medicare and participating private health insurers. The correct ECLIPSE claim pathway depends on the service, insurer, provider arrangements and claim circumstances.

Initial and subsequent inpatient attendances
Oncology services may involve specialist or consultant physician attendance items depending on the provider and service. Item selection must be based on the current MBS descriptor and the actual attendance rather than specialty name alone. Referral, timing, course-of-treatment and other requirements can affect eligibility.
Complex oncology care does not mean automatic coding
Oncology patients can have complex and ongoing treatment, but complexity alone does not establish a particular MBS item. DEVZ Solutions' billing workflow is designed to use the clinical/service information supplied by the practitioner and apply the relevant administrative claiming requirements without making clinical decisions on behalf of the doctor.

Centralised billing can be particularly useful when a specialist's inpatient work is geographically dispersed. DEVZ handles claims in its own billing software after you securely supply the required inpatient details, without remotely accessing your practice systems. This supports a consistent billing process across hospitals and jurisdictions.
A typical end-of-day workflow
- The oncologist or authorised practice team securely sends the agreed patient/service information from the day's rounds.
- Required patient, referral, hospital, provider and insurer information is checked.
- The service information is reviewed against the applicable current claiming requirements.
- Eligible claims are lodged using the appropriate Medicare/private health insurer pathway.
- Responses and rejected or outstanding claims are monitored and followed up.
